New Logo Who Dis? | WMLUG
We Have a New Logo!
WMLUG is excited to announce our new logo design. You’ll start seeing changes to our signage, T-shirts, and more over the next few months. Come see us at an upcoming show to experience the new logo for yourself!

New Elements Added to Our Logo
In an effort to better reflect WMLUG’s growing community, the new logo incorporates several new elements.
The Brick Built Sun
Its a new day for WMLUG. The sun has risen and we’re ready for it! A representation of our hope for the future. As our organization continues to evolve the sun serves as a reminder to keep shining light on the LEGO® fan community by sharing more of the work we’re doing with the world.
The Wave
Michigan is known for its freshwater beaches and waterways. The wave represents our connection to the Great Lakes State. Just as water brings life and nourishment to the world around us, WMLUG looks to nourish the community we serve. From local libraries to big events WMLUG is committed to bringing the West Michigan community together through sharing our love of LEGO®.
The Growing Trees
The addition of trees represents both a type of plant you might find here in Michigan and our desire to keep growing. Both the club as a whole and the skill of our community members continues to improve every year. It also pays tribute to the use of the color green that has represented WMLUG for many years.
WMLUG now Stands for West Michigan LEGO® Users Group
Along with the new logo design, WMLUG has tweaked our name just a bit. Over the last 15 or so years the “Western” in our name constantly got mixed up with “West Michigan”. So we’ve decided to embrace it. Our name is now “West Michigan LEGO® Users Group”.
Why is WMLUG Launching a New Logo Now?
The new logo for WMLUG is part of a brand refresh alongside our new status as a Recognized LEGO® Fan Community. Over the last few years WMLUG has grown a lot bringing in new members and participating in new events. This means that our community now includes greater diversity in build styles and themes. What was once primarily a LEGO® train and City club, now builds a wide range of themes including space, Jurassic Park, castle, super heroes, Star Wars, fantasy, historical recreations, and more!
A Brief History of the WMLUG Logo
2011: The Club’s Original Logo
In the beginning our group was known as the Western Michigan LEGO® Train Club (WMLTC). The group was primarily focused on displaying trains and city themed projects. In train club tradition the WMLTC adopted a “Fallen Flag” logo style based on the logo for The Iron Range Route.
2014: Becoming a LUG
In 2014 WMlTC became the Western Michigan LEGO® Users Group. This change brought the club into alignment with many of the other LEGO® clubs around the world. Along with the name change came a slight update to our logo.
2017/2018: Dropping ‘LEGO®’ From the Logo
In March of 2017 The LEGO® Group informed recognized LUGs that they could no longer use direct LEGO® branding and trademarks in their logos. So WMLUG updated their logo to comply with these restrictions.
2026: Celebrating 15 Years of Creativity with Bricks
With continued changes to the programs offered by The LEGO® Group and WMlUG’s 15 year celebration it was time to once again evolve the club’s logo. WMlUG has grown significantly and now shows across many different themes each year. Our new logo represents the vibrant growth and playful attitude the local LEGO® community has come to know us for!
